In April 2013, the People's Government of Gongshu District, Hangzhou cooperated with Shanghai Juneyao Group to establish Hangzhou Shanghai World Foreign Language School by introducing the high-quality education brand of Shanghai World Foreign Language Primary School.

In 2015, the International Department of Hangzhou Shanghai WFLS was approved to be Hangzhou Shanghai World Foreign Language International School.

In August 2017, Primary Department of Hangzhou Shanghai WFL International School School was officially authorized by the International Baccalaureate Organization as an IB PYP school.
